Terms of Service
Effective date: 2026-05-16 Operator: Joshua Katigbak, operating Praize ("Praize", "we", "us") Contact: support@praize.faith / privacy@praize.faith
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Praize (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you are under 16, do not use Praize.
3. Accounts and Modes of Use
3.1 Viewer Mode
You may browse public Scripture and prayers without creating an account.
3.2 Account Mode
To post prayers, give/receive intercessions, join groups, or participate in vigils, you must create an account. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity under your account.
3.3 Guest accounts
You may initially use Praize with a guest account. If you later create a full account, your guest activity may be migrated to your new account and is not treated as fully anonymous.
4. User Content
4.1 Your content
You may submit prayers, praises, testimonies, reflections, audio recordings, and other content ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content.
4.2 License to operate the Service
You grant Praize a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and create technical derivatives of your User Content solely as needed to operate the Service. This includes:
- Rendering and delivering content to recipients you select
- Transcription of audio for accessibility and moderation (where enabled)
- Translation for cross-language delivery to other users (where enabled)
- Formatting, caching, and technical processing necessary for delivery
This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backup retention described in our Privacy Policy and any detached public content you choose to keep available under Section 4.5.
4.3 Public vs private content
- Public content is visible to all users and viewers
- Private content is visible only to you and recipients you choose
- Group content is visible to members of the group
- Vigil content is visible to vigil participants
You control the visibility of your content when posting.
4.4 Automated transcription and translation
If you use audio features, your recordings may be automatically transcribed. If translation is enabled, transcripts may be automatically translated for recipients in other languages.
Auto-generated transcripts and translations may be inaccurate. You are responsible for reviewing content you publish. We label AI-generated outputs where feasible.
4.5 Detaching content on account deletion
When deleting your account, you may choose to:
- Delete all your content permanently, or
- Detach your identity from eligible public content (your account link is removed, but the content remains as pseudonymous community content)
Detaching is pseudonymization, not true anonymization. If your content includes self-identifying information (your name, location, etc.), it may still be identifiable even after detaching. We recommend reviewing your content before choosing this option.
If you choose to detach public content, you grant Praize a continuing limited license to host and display that detached public content as pseudonymous community content. You may choose deletion instead where you do not want this continuing display.
5. Community Rules
5.1 Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- Post illegal content, threats, harassment, hate speech, or explicit violence
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
- Post others' personal or sensitive information without their awareness (including full names combined with medical details, addresses, phone numbers, or other identifying information)
- Use the Service to proselytize aggressively, engage in theological harassment, or target users based on their denomination or tradition
- Attempt to bypass moderation, safety controls, or rate limits
- Use automated tools to scrape content or create accounts
- Upload malware or attempt to compromise the Service
5.2 Third-party data responsibility
Prayers naturally mention other people. When posting:
- Use initials, pseudonyms, or vague references instead of full names with identifying details
- Do not include others' contact information, health conditions, financial details, or other sensitive information in identifiable form
- If our privacy filter flags your post, please review and edit before publishing
5.3 Audio content
Voice prayers and intercessions are subject to the same community rules as text content. Audio sent to specific recipients (private intercessions) may not be shared publicly without the speaker's consent.
6. Groups and Vigils
6.1 Groups
- Group creators serve as group administrators
- Group content is visible only to group members unless otherwise specified
- Group administrators may remove members or content that violates these Terms
6.2 Vigils
- Vigil hosts manage vigil sessions and participation
- Content shared during vigils is visible to vigil participants
- Vigil participation data (join/leave times) is visible to the host
7. Moderation and Enforcement
7.1 Safety measures
Praize applies automated and human moderation to protect the community. This includes:
- Content review for prohibited conduct
- Privacy filter checks for high-risk personal information
- Enhanced safety checks during the first 14 days of a new account ("safety period")
7.2 Enforcement actions
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend/terminate accounts for violations of these Terms, security risks, or legal compliance.
7.3 Appeals
We provide a way to appeal enforcement decisions through the in-app appeal flow or support@praize.faith, subject to the process in our Reporting & Appeals Policy.
8. Bible Text
Scripture text displayed in Praize must be sourced under confirmed license terms before launch of the relevant Reader feature. Current translation, publisher, display, cache, audio, AI-use, and attribution permissions are tracked in `docs/compliance/bible-license-register.md`. Praize does not claim ownership of Scripture text.
9. Paid Features (if applicable)
If you purchase subscriptions, sponsorships, or other paid features:
- Pricing, billing cadence, and any trial terms are shown at the time of purchase
- Trials convert to paid subscriptions unless cancelled before renewal (where applicable)
- Refunds follow the rules shown at checkout and any mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction
- In-app purchases through Apple or Google are also subject to their respective store terms
Paid features, sponsorships, platform fees, and EU consumer protection terms are not enabled for this beta release. They will be governed by updated terms before launching as live paid products.
10. Intellectual Property
10.1 Praize IP
The Praize name, logo, design, and software are owned by or licensed to Praize. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service.
10.2 Feedback
If you provide feedback or suggestions about the Service, we may use them without obligation to you.
11. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data, including special category data (religious beliefs).
12. Termination
12.1 By you
You may stop using the Service at any time. You can request account deletion from Settings > Privacy & Data. Account deletion includes a 7-day grace period during which you can cancel.
12.2 By Praize
We may suspend or terminate accounts for:
- Violations of these Terms
- Security risks or suspected unauthorized use
- Legal or regulatory requirements
- Extended inactivity (with prior notice)
13. Disclaimers
13.1 User content
Content on Praize is created by users. Praize does not endorse, verify, or guarantee the accuracy of user content, including theological interpretations, prayer requests, or testimonies.
13.2 Not professional advice
Praize is a faith community platform. It does not provide medical, legal, psychological, or professional advice, and is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, please contact local emergency services.
13.3 AI-generated content
Auto-generated transcripts, translations, and other AI outputs may contain errors. Praize is not responsible for inaccuracies in AI-generated content.
13.4 Service availability
We aim to keep Praize available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may need to perform maintenance, updates, or changes that temporarily affect availability.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Praize is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, opportunities, or profits arising from your use of the Service.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law (e.g., fraud, death or personal injury from negligence).
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you via the app or email before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Estonia, excluding conflict of law rules. The courts of Estonia have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction provide otherwise.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
